WATCH: Florida man waves US flag during Hurricane Ian

Cape Coral, Florida (WFLA) — It wouldn’t be a Florida hurricane without some potentially dangerous behavior by a Florida man in a life-threatening situation.

In a video posted to Twitter, a Cape Coral man was seen waving an American flag while being hit by strong winds from Hurricane Ian on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service issued an advisory at 11 a.m. Wednesday warning residents of the Cape Coral-Fort Myers area that winds in excess of 110 mph could be seen. Strong winds can cause widespread power outages and communication disruptions.

Life-threatening storm surges were also possible, with surges expected to reach 9 feet above the ground. These storm surges can wash away buildings and escape routes and wreak havoc on marinas, docks and boardwalks.
