Video: Amphibious Naval Vessel Found on Crab Island

Destin, Florida (WKRGMore) — Destin drivers and waterside drivers at Mahler Bridge saw a huge military vessel making waves on Crab Island on Friday morning.

Eglin Air Force Base confirmed it was a Navy ship, not an Air Force ship. An Air Cushion Landing Craft (LCAC) is a high-speed transport vessel that can operate both on water and on land.

The Navy uses LCACs to bring weapons and services ashore from warships. One Friday from the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Bay County, Florida.
