Two dead, minor charged in Newmarket, Alabama

Huntsville, Alabama (WHNT) — Two people were killed and the boy’s family arrested after Thursday’s shooting in Newmarket.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) responded to Block 100 of Rose Valley Drive in Newmarket after receiving a call regarding a domestic violence situation.
Madison County coroner Tyler Berryhill confirmed that two people were killed in the shooting.
Investigators said the car left the house, prompting agents to pursue it. Authorities said the boy who was driving the vehicle was detained on Winchester Road after being hit during a chase.
The boy was arrested around 12:30 am on Friday, according to MCSO. The minor has been charged with two counts of murder and his one count of attempted murder. They are held at the Nieves Davis Center for Children.
Neighbor Devan Watkins said he and his wife never expected this to happen in their neighborhood.
“A little too close to home,” he said. “At the end of the day, everyone here is a great neighborhood. I never expected this to happen, I never dreamed it would happen, but I never dreamed it would happen.”
News Nineteen crew members witnessed authorities removing multiple firearms from their residences.
