Teenager shot dead at Atmore, suspect charged with murder: police

Atmore, Alabama (WKRGMore) — A teenager was arrested Monday and charged with murder for allegedly shooting another teenager in Atmore, Atmore police said.

Officers responded to Atmore Community Hospital around 10 p.m. Monday, police said. Police said the suspect in the shooting took the victim to the hospital. Police said the victim was unresponsive when he arrived and died from his injuries.

According to the department’s news release, police believe the shooting occurred “inside a car near the intersection of Carver Street.” The suspect, who is under the age of 18 and is not identified at this time, was arrested and taken to a detention center in Escambia County, Alabama.

Police said they were still investigating the shooting.
