Spanish Fort Theft: What You Need to Know About Holiday Safety

Spanish Fort, Alabama (WKRGMore) – Spanish Fort Family ring doorbell captured scene no one wants to see – A car has been broken into by a person – Nothing stolen, no one identified, but the holidays are looming This is a general trend over time.

Spain’s Fort Police Chief John Barber said this is a normal trend during the holidays.

“Every year from this time into January, criminals know people are shopping, people are leaving their homes and cars are being broken into all the time around the Eastern Shore. “I’m sorry,” says Barber. .

People who steal packages from doorsteps are called “porch pirates” and their favorite time of year is now. There is one thing you and law enforcement can do to help catch red-handed criminals.

“One of the best pieces of advice I can give anyone right now is to have a ring camera or any kind of surveillance camera in their home,” says Barber.

However, according to police, people are looking for certain items at this time of year, so always remember to remove all valuables from your car.

“Most of the time they’re looking for guns, but certainly if they see Christmas presents hidden in their cars, they’ll take anything of value and keep working,” Barber said.

The Spanish Fortress Police Department strongly recommends that you lock your car as soon as you leave it, especially during the holiday season.
