At CES on Thursday, Stellantis debuted the highly anticipated Ram 1500 Revolution. This is the electric version of the popular 1500 pickup truck. The electric truck is part of his Stellantis commitment to electrify the majority of its segments by 2025 and all segments by 2030 at the latest.
Stellantis says the Ram 1500 Revolution will go into production in 2024 and will push the boundaries of range, towing, payload and charging time.
The vehicle’s exterior is a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the Ram 1500, with a sleek, ultra-modern design. The car has an all-new Ram branded face that reads RAM and has an animated full LED “tuning fork” design. LED lights are also placed in the front bumper flares and tail lamps.
The doors are designed in a grand saloon style that opens away from each other, eliminating the need for B-pillars and creating a larger and more spacious opening.
The interior is radically different from its predecessor design, removing the center console, third row jump seats, and removable lower section that can be positioned in the truck bed or outside.
All these changes allow for a more customizable space to accommodate different seating configurations and fit objects up to 18 feet long in the trunk. At the CES event, Ram CEO Mike Koval Jr. joked that customizable configurations would change tailgates forever.
“At Ram, we are redefining and redefining what a pickup truck can do by pushing ahead with what our competitors are offering by offering the best electric pickup on the market,” said Koval Jr.
Other truck features include up to 28 inches of screen space, autonomous features, external projectors, smart home controls, AR head-up displays, all-glass ceilings and digital side-view mirrors.
The Ram 1500 isn’t the first electric pickup truck to enter the market. Automakers such as Ford, Chevrolet, and Rivian have also announced models of electric pickup trucks, some of which are already in production.
Tesla, the leader in the electric vehicle production space, has unveiled a version of its electric pickup truck. Tesla Cybertruck, as early as 2019. However, I have experienced some setbacks since then. The new expected production, tentatively he is scheduled to start at the end of 2023.
