Federal officials Wednesday arrested an Ohio pastor and charged him with felony and misdemeanor charges for allegedly breaking into the Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021 riots.
William Dunfee, 57, of Frazeysburg has been charged with obstructing official proceedings and obstructing law enforcement officials. According to the release He was indicted by the Department of Justice (DOJ) on five other misdemeanor charges.
Dunphy is scheduled to appear before a judge in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio on Wednesday.
he is a pastor of a christian church ministry of new beginnings in Warsaw, Ohio. According to his biography page, Dunphy said he became a pastor in 2018 and the church he founded in 2001.
According to the DOJ, in late December 2020, Dunphy gave a sermon from Jan. 4 to Jan. 6 asking followers if they were “ready.”
“Government, Tyrant, Socialist, Marxist, Progressive, Linus [Republicans in Name Only], they are afraid of you. And they should,” he is quoted as saying. “Our problem is that we haven’t given them a reason to fear us.”
On January 6, Dunphy arrived at the Capitol and led other mobs into the building in an effort to block approval of the 2020 election. He used a loudspeaker to address the rest of the Capitol mob, shouting “Hallelujah!” during a deadly attack.
Dunphy is also a member salt and light brigade, A pro-Christian movement that vows to “defend the Judeo-Christian worldview” and “fight the enemy.”
The Salt and Light Brigade is part of the Ohio-based charity Pass the Salt Ministries, founded by Dave Daubenmire, which provides armed tactical training to its members.
Dovenmire is a self-proclaimed “veteran” football coach known for his legal battles with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in the 1990s. The ACLU sued him for mixing prayer with soccer coaching.the case is settlement out of courtbut the ACLU won the limit.

A lawyer defending one of four members of the Oath Keepers who went on trial earlier this week said his defendant, Kenneth Harrelson, was falsely accused of conduct involving the Salt and Light Brigade on January 6. Stated.
