New term and new renovations at Hankins Middle School – WKRG News 5

Theodore, Alabama (WKRG) – 2023-2024 school year begins Monday morning. On Sunday evening, volunteers came to Hankins Middle School to see if the school was ready to receive students.
“Today, we are focusing on the look of our campus to ensure everything is safe for our children and they are welcoming when they arrive at school tomorrow,” said Principal Josh Verqueuil.
Volunteers cleaned the hallways, picked up trash around campus, and renewed the outdoor mulch.
Volunteer Jerry Mohr said, “We are cleaning up the Hankins Middle School students so they can have a fresh start tomorrow.”
At the beginning of the summer, renovations began with a new lobby, two classrooms, and a new media center. Only 2 classrooms will be completed tomorrow.
The new lobby is almost complete and all that remains is finishing the decorations. Verqueuil says this should be completed by the end of next week.
“Every grade is exciting and there is a lot to celebrate this year,” said Verqueuil.
The new media center will be completed by the end of August.
