Mobile phone detection camera catches more than 270,000 criminals in Australia

The percentage of drivers illegally using mobile phones in New South Wales has dropped by a fifth since AI cameras began catching criminals.

Australia’s world’s first camera, which uses artificial intelligence to detect drivers using mobile phones, seems to have captured thousands of criminals and thwarted dangerous actions.

The first state used in New South Wales began to impose fines on this technology in March 2020. Since then, the camera has checked more than 130 million vehicles and found that more than 270,000 drivers are using mobile phones.
