Mobile mayor claims New Year’s Eve shooting was gang-related

MOBILE, Alabama (WKRG) — Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson said Sunday afternoon, Taken in downtown Mobile on New Year’s Eve.

“Like many others, I am outraged by the violence that took place in downtown Mobile last night. I’m sick and tired of ruining what should have been a safe and fun event.

Stimpson also said a task force had been launched to meet with “mobile police leaders” and find those responsible for the shooting.

Just after 11:00 pm on New Year’s Eve, the police were summoned to downtown Mobile and received a call to open fire. One person was shot and nine were shot, with non-life-threatening to serious injuries. No one has been arrested for the shooting.
