Mobile City Council discussing downtown waterfront development on Tuesday

Mobile, Alabama (WKRG) — Changes can occur in the mobile skyline.

At this week’s meeting, Mayor Sandy Stimpson will be California-based construction firm Moffatt & Nichol, Inc. Requests Congress to approve the contract with “Evaluation and Design of Public Facilities to Help Revitalize the City’s Downtown Waterfront in Cooper Riverside Park.”

This is in a very preliminary planning stage and city officials say it hasn’t even been rendered yet. The green light on Tuesday means that Moffat & Nicole can start exploring design elements and possible equipment.

Some possibilities include the Ferris wheel. This is a Ferris wheel with enclosed cars, more green space, shaded structures, and areas for food dealers. According to a press release from the mayor’s office, this also includes a plan for the hall of fame courtyard.
