Microsoft officially .NET community toolkit, provides developers with a set of helpers and APIs for .NET developers that are agnostic to any UI platform. According to Microsoft, the updated release of the MVVM (Model-View-View-Model) toolkit is the biggest new feature in the toolkit.
The .NET Community Toolkit 8.0.0, a spin-off of the Windows Community Toolkit, was announced on August 4th, following a preview phase that began in January. The MVVM Toolkit includes a new source generator to significantly reduce the boilerplate code for setting up applications that utilize MVVM. These generators have been rewritten to run faster than before. Writing observable properties has been simplified, C# development has been enhanced, and the messenger API has also been improved for his MVVM application.
.NET Community Toolkit 8.0.0 also includes improvements to diagnostic packages. You can access the toolkit from: Github.
Although tagged as version 8.0.0, this is actually the first release of the .NET Community Toolkit. The reason for this version naming is that all the toolkit libraries were originally part of the Windows Community Toolkit. Universal Windows Platform (UWP) .NET application for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Due to the growing need for APIs targeting .NET without Windows-specific dependencies, Microsoft decided to separate these APIs into separate projects. The last version of the Windows Community Toolkit before forking was 7.1.x. Microsoft decided to follow the same version control.
