Pensacola, FL (WKRG) — Are you happy today? It’s not a rhetorical question. I ask because your mood can have an overall effect on so many aspects of your life.
I always read multiple books at the same time. One of the books I’m reading now is a good old reread. “The Power of Positive Thinking” by Norman Vincent Peale. I have done a lot of research on optimism practices over the years. People who choose to live each day with gratitude and optimism live healthier and longer lives than those who do not That’s been shown in study after study. Note that I’m not saying they have a “happier” life.
No, according to research I’ve read, optimistic people by and large face the same problems as negative people. However, you are more likely to overcome difficulties because you choose to stay positive no matter what is going on around you.
Going one step further, additional research concludes that the practice of prayer reduces anxiety and anger, leading to a more positive lifestyle.
So when you face a difficult situation, relationship, or diagnosis this week and feel tempted to react negatively, instead remember this minute to stay in control and stay optimistic. choose and pray. Alone or with someone.
Your troubles won’t go away. But it may mean you’ll be stronger for the fight. I’ll be praying for you and staying optimistic about your outcome. And that’s your minute with Drexel.
