Facebook-Parent Meta’s VROculus business is said to be being investigated by US states for potential violations

According to three sources familiar with the issue, several states have begun investigating potential violations of how Facebook, now known as Meta Platforms, operates a virtual reality Oculus business.

Two sources said the Federal Trade Commission was also involved in the antitrust investigation. Meta did not immediately respond to the request for comment.

New York, North Carolina, and Tennessee were one of the states involved in the investigation, according to one source. A group of nearly 50 states also urged the Court of Appeals on Friday to revive the antitrust proceedings filed in December 2020 with Facebook.

Inquiries to Facebook’s Oculus business are part of a larger study, one source said.

The Attorney General’s offices in New York, North Carolina, and Tennessee did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

This inquiry was first reported by Bloomberg News.
