Bryce Young Shines at Alabama Football Pro Day, Will Anderson Jr. Offers Insight into Pre-Draft Process

Tuscaloosa, Alabama (WKRGMore) — All eyes were on Tuscaloosa on Thursday as Alabama Football hosted its annual Pro Day. Hundreds of his NFL head coaches, general managers and scouts gathered at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility to get a glimpse of his two potential top picks in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Heisman quarterback Bryce Young shone in a pitching session in a remarkably quiet setting, under the watchful eye of Tuscaloosa people and national television. The event was televised by the SEC and his NFL Networks.

The gravity of the moment was clear. Among those in attendance was Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich, who has the #1 overall pick. Young says the moment was certainly unique, but he embraced it.

“If it’s practice, you’ll hear coaches yelling and you’ll have a lot of fans at games,” Young told the media. “You know, it’s a unique environment, but it’s football after all. It’s still throwing routes with my mates, and that’s what I love to do.”

The youth reiterated that Pro Day is “still football” regardless of “external factors”.

“This is a really fun, really cool experience,” added Young. “I always dreamed of doing a Pro Day.

On the other side of the ball from Will Anderson Jr. is another potential top pick — the All-American linebacker didn’t show up for practice Thursday. Said he was satisfied.

Speaking on the pre-draft process, Anderson Jr. said: “I’m very blessed and like a little kid who grew up watching these coaches on TV, getting the chance to actually talk to them and be around them and hang out with them. It’s a dream come true. It is realization.”

Anderson Jr. has had a busy pre-draft experience. He told the media that he was able to visit the Houston Texans and reunite with some of the “Bama family.”

Demeco Ryans, a former All-American linebacker for the Crimson Tide, is the head coach of the Texans. Linebacker Christian Harris and receiver John Mechee are also in Houston, former teammates of Anderson Jr.
