Body found behind Skybar in downtown Auburn, investigation underway

Auburn, Alabama (WRBL) – Yellow police tape surrounded the Skybar Cafe in downtown Auburn on Friday, March 31, as first responders confirmed a death investigation was ongoing.

The Lee County coroner confirmed that he was called to an ally behind a bar downtown where the body was found. Investigations are too early at this time, but there is no suspicion of wrongdoing.

The WRBL crew, WKRG News 5’s sister station covering Auburn, is on site and will update as more information becomes available. Auburn Police are expected to release additional details this afternoon.

A representative for Skybar Cafe has sent this statement to WRBL.

“Skybar management is saddened to learn that the corpse of a middle-aged man was found near the Skybar at 122 West Magnolia Street, Auburn. It seems to have fallen through the wall that separates us from the rest of the local businesses.My heartfelt condolences to the gentleman’s family and loved ones.”

SkyBar Cafe is located at 136 West Magnolia Avenue in Auburn, across from the Auburn University campus. Toomers Corner is on the other side of the block.
