Apple’s tried and tested tablet, the base model iPad, is a great tablet for kids. In fact, ZDNET’s Jason Cipriani said that Apple has “perfected the tablet equation” with this. You get all the same features as the more expensive iPad Pro and iPad Air models, but in a lighter form factor with his 10.2-inch display with True Tone.
There are also newer iPad models, but the 9th generation has most of the same features and costs just $250, about half the price of the 2022 model. (Personally, I wouldn’t recommend spending $449 on a new model for your child to use and abuse unless you plan to share it with them.)

Early education experts agree.
Troy Portillo, Operations Director study poolan online learning platform for students, says that if you have younger children who need a tablet, you can’t go wrong with Apple’s iPad.
“You’ll still get all the great security features and customer support that come standard with Apple products. You can also easily monitor your kids’ online activity, limit usage time, and use certain app pairs. You can use rental controls,” he said.
Parents can control their child’s iPad experience through Apple’s Family Sharing feature. This allows you to limit the amount of time you can use certain apps, notify you when your child is about to buy an app, or send you reminders for family game nights and more.
