You don’t like the bulky design and constant notifications that come with wearing a smartwatch, but you want some health insight? Enter Tamaki Oura. Occupying a small footprint, the Aura Ring tracks your activity, sleep, and more. Although a bit thicker, the PVD-coated, high-quality titanium ring looks more like an everyday accessory than a fitness tracker.
of ZDNET Recently purchased by Sherin Shibu Bought the ring for herself and was impressed by its minimalist design and comfort, detailed and practical insight without having to implement a screen.
The ring is delicate and smooth enough to wear at night. Equipped with the Sp02 sensor, the Oura Ring tracks heart rate variability (HRV) along with overall blood saturation levels during the night.
Much like its design, the Oura ring takes a more balanced approach to fitness rather than giving you stats right away. Access your data on your own time with an intuitive app interface and gain insights into your tracked activity and non-calorie data. This insight includes recovery and preparation and is very comprehensive.
“I think of our aura as something that happens overnight. I take a step back and look at myself and my health on a bigger level, considering the consequences of what I’ve been doing over the last few weeks/days. That’s it,” said Dr. Wake said Jason Fanning, an assistant professor at Forest University who studies commercial and research-grade activity using his monitor.
“If you train too hard or too little, get sick or drink too much alcohol, all of that will show up and give you an idea of how you feel,” Fanning says.
The Oularing also features bedtime guidance, menstrual cycle prediction, and an “auto-nap” prompt. The only downside? Along with the $299 price tag and custom fitting process, access to all features requires a membership fee. Free members only have access to Sleep, Prepare, and Activities.
