Alibaba Appoints New CTO, CEO Becomes Interim Head of Cloud

Alibaba Group has made several changes to its top management team, replacing its CTO and giving chairman and CEO Daniel Zhang an additional role as acting president of its cloud business. Shuffling between the top seats is an annual tradition, the Chinese tech giant says.

Wu Zeming is Alibaba’s new CTO, succeeding Li Cheng, who was appointed to the role in 2019. Cheng will remain with the company as a technical advisor, Alibaba said in a statement on Thursday. Wu will continue to serve as his CTO for his services locally.
