Daphne, AlabamaWKRG) — The Alabama coastal cleanup is back, picking up hundreds of pounds of trash from around the area. As volunteers pass through the rocky shores, they also have to fight intermittent showers throughout the morning.
“I’m ready to pick up the trash and keep it dry,” said Zoe Doll, a fifth-grade volunteer dressed in a rain poncho. Keeping dry is easier to say than Saturday. People picked up trash and trash they found to make their neighborhood a little better.
“It’s the most beautiful part of our being, because we know that we cherish it, we need to cherish it, and you shouldn’t take it for granted.” Said volunteer Aldisfine. The organizers say they are pleased that many of these cleanup sites are back. Last year’s cleanup fell a few days before the hurricane sari landed. ”
