Again, Netflix will increase the price of all plans

We live in a complex era where price increases are no longer a surprise and are becoming more commonplace. Still, when it comes to Netflix, it’s crazy to see streaming giants raise the price of their plans as more competitors emerge. Shockingly, that’s exactly what’s happening today. Netflix is updating the price of streaming plans and all services are getting more expensive. Currently, the basic plan costs $ 9.99 per month and the standard plan costs $ 15.49, while the premium plan costs $ 19.99 per month.

Netflix’s new basic, standard and premium plans

For comparison, the base plan costs an additional $ 1 compared to the previous $ 8.99 per month. For those who don’t know, the basic plan allows users to watch only one screen at a time. Even more shocking is the 480p resolution limit. HD mode is not available in the basic plan. This is impressive for the length of time Netflix has kept this plan alive. Some competitors offer standard plans with HD resolution and multiple screens. But still, the big “N” thinks this is the best way to go.

On the other hand, the standard plan is $ 1,50 higher than the previous monthly fee of $ 13,99. It’s a bit better to provide 1080p HD streaming. In addition, the user can see it on two screens at once. The so-called “Premium Plan” is the best option, offering 4K HDR streaming options and up to 4 screens at a time. This is $ 2 higher than $ 17,99 per month.

According to Netflix, the price will be applied immediately to new members and will be “gradually valid” for all current members. Current members will receive an email notification 30 days before the price change and can choose to change or cancel the plan. It is worth noting that this is the second price increase in over a year. The last price increase took place in October 2020. Currently, the premium plan is $ 4 higher than in the fall of 2020.

In a quick comparison, a basic Netflix plan costs twice as much as an Apple TV + subscription for $ 4.99 per month. The premium plan costs four times as much. The Disney + subscription costs $ 7,99 in the US, while HBO Max costs the same $ 9.99, but doesn’t limit the resolution to 480p. Of course, Netflix still has the original shows and movies that occupy the user base, but it may change in the future as other streaming services improve quality and increase the original content.
