Terry, Miss. ((WJTV) – The local sanctuary and the need for rescue will help cover the cost of helping a puppy with a chemical burn to his body.

Officials at Terry’s Coco’s House Senior Sanctuary Rescue said Cupid was found earlier this month on a community dumpling site in Jonesboro, Louisiana.

Amber Barras, the founder of the sanctuary, was sent a video of Cupid’s condition. She said she knew she had to intervene and help Cupid.

Burrus’s friend was able to pick up Cupid and meet her in Vixberg. She said she was in pain when she saw the puppy.

“It definitely does something to your soul. You will wonder what is happening with society, humanity, people’s compassion, and how this can happen.” She said.

As of Friday, January 14, Cupid is recovering at Flowwood’s Animal Emergency Referral Center. Burrus said the treatment would take several months, but Cupid is expected to recover completely.
