4 iOS 16 Settings You Should Turn Off Now to Save Your Data

The iPhone needs to be connected 24/7, and Apple built various features into iOS that want to take advantage of that connection.

The problem is that using these features can seriously impact your cellular data plan. This means you either end up paying extra or get kicked to the lower tier by your provider.

Now let’s take a look at the iOS 16 settings. This is the setting most likely to punch a hole in your data plan.

You can pay for what you need, and it’s convenient, but many of these services can wait until you connect to Wi-Fi.

Also, keep in mind that your provider may limit the amount of high-speed bandwidth available to you, even if you’re on an unlimited plan.

If you have a fully unlimited plan, leave all of this alone and don’t worry about the consequences.

This is one of the settings Apple warns that it can “cause you to exceed your cellular data plan.” It performs the important task of backing up your iPhone data to iCloud, but as long as your Wi-Fi is connected regularly (e.g. several times a day), it’s a setting you can safely turn off. .

go to setting > [tap on your name at the top] > iCloud > iCloud backup Tap. Backup over cellular toggle.

People take a lot of pictures and pushing them over cellular networks can use up a lot of data.

go to setting > Photo > mobile dataThere are two settings here.

  • mobile data: Use part of your pocket money
  • unlimited updates: Full upload and download. Apple warns that this “may exceed your cellular data plan.”

Personally, I’m a heavy user of both data and battery, so I turned both off.

Apps (and app updates) can be huge and downloading them over a cellular connection can require huge amounts of your data allowance. Wait until Wi-Fi is available, unless you

This is one of the features that can use a lot of data if not checked. The occasional TV show might not be that bad, but streaming movies one after another can take a toll on your data.

Down if on cellular You have two options:

  • High quality: uses the most data
  • automatic: use optimized streams with low data usage
