15-year-old girl charged with killing mother’s fiancée

Escambia County, Florida (WKRGMore) — A 15-year-old girl was charged Wednesday morning with murdering her mother’s fiancé at an apartment complex in Escambia County.
The shooting occurred at the Essex Point Apartments on Johnson Avenue.
The 15-year-old girl entered her mother’s bedroom and opened fire on her and her fiancée while they were asleep, prosecutors said.
Lawmakers are still trying to figure out the motives behind the shooting.
“All we can gather is that it was a normal, relatively calm morning,” said Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons. “They were getting her ready for school and they were both in bed and without any provocation she pulled out her gun and fired at them.”
The man was taken to a hospital where he died, according to the sheriff’s office.
The suspect’s mother died in the nick of time, prosecutors said.
“She was lucky to survive,” Simmons said. “She had a wrap around her head while she was in bed, and her bullet went into that bandage of hers, but she didn’t hit her.”
Police said the 15-year-old girl fled in her mother’s car after the shooting, but was later found and taken into custody by officers.
A 15-year-old boy has been charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
